Introduction to Dawn of War

The Dawn of War series is based on the Warhammer 40,000 tabletop miniature wargame first produced by Games Workshop in 1987. When considering the extensive history that the franchise has to offer, we often hear from interested newcomers: “Where do I begin?”

In the grim future of the 41st Millennium, Mankind teeters upon the brink of extinction. The galaxy-spanning Imperium of Man, beset on all sides by ravening aliens, foul traitors and Warp-spawned Daemons, looks once more to stave off the encroaching darkness. The endless bloodshed. There is no time for peace. No respite. No forgiveness. There is only war.


DAWN OF WAR

In the northern Segmentum of Imperial space, Captain Gabriel Angelos of the Blood Ravens 3rd Company endeavors to defend the planet Tartarus from an unrelenting horde of Orks. It is revealed that the Eldar of the Craftworld Biel-tan are also operating on Tartarus, just as evidence of Chaos meddling is discovered. Mortal enemies, the Eldar and Chaos forces clash as Captain Angelos and the Blood Ravens seek to discover the secrets of Tartarus’ history.

Dawn of War I is an excellent place to start your journey into the Dawn of War series. It features a strong tutorial that will get you campaign and multiplayer-savvy very quickly!

An engaging, story-driven single player campaign is the perfect testbed for new strategies and army compositions. Strategically utilize cover, gathered resources, and troop morale to overwhelm your opponents. Master the distinct abilities of each army to wrest victory from the hands of your foes.

If you prefer large-scale deployments, base building, and dynamic (2 – 8 player) multiplayer battles, you’ll be right at home in Dawn of War I!

DAWN OF WAR II

Ork and Eldar military activity in sub-sector Aurelia, the edge of the galaxy and the home front of the Blood Ravens, threatens to distract Captain Angelos from a devastating Tyranid invasion. Intent on destruction, the Tyranids seek to devour not only the Blood Ravens Chapter, but all life in the sector.

Dawn of War II focuses on the brutal frontline of Warhammer 40,000 battles – following smaller squads as you play through your chosen race’s campaign. Choose your battles in a non-linear single player campaign and upgrade your units with powerful wargear, fighting amidst the ever-changing landscape of destructible environments.

Dawn of War II has an active multiplayer and modding community and also includes the popular Last Stand mode, which pits three players against a seemingly endless horde of enemies. Dawn of War II is a great bet if you’re looking to play online!
