Today’s the day that we’ll be at Gamescom, where fans get to play Dawn of War III for the first time! The team has been successfully deployed at Cologne and is awaiting further orders. If you’re wondering how best to prepare for the fight, look no further!

Three weeks back, our most dedicated Dawn of War fans visited the Relic headquarters in Vancouver, BC to play the game for the first time! Luetin, CaptainShack of XPGamers, and Yogscast Sjin each got an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at the mission you’ll be playing.

We’ve compiled the best videos to get you ready to face the Eldar threat on Acheron!

DAWN OF WAR 3 GAMEPLAY FIRST LOOK

Yogscast Sjin had a lot of say about the Elite units you control in Dawn of War III! In this video, Sjin covers advanced tactics for Gabriel Angelos and Imperial Knight Solaria. This video also does a great job explaining which parts of Dawn of War and Dawn of War II come into play in the third installment. If you’re just getting acquainted with Dawn of War III, this video is a great place to start.

WHICH BROTHERS WILL YOU BRING INTO BATTLE?

CaptainShack of TheXPGamers continues his deep dive of Space Marine units with another great unit breakdown. In this video, Shack talks about the return of base building and outlines new units. He also discusses capture points and resource management in Dawn of War III. Since strengthening your Space Marine base is such an important aspect of this mission in particular, Shack makes sure to cover the benefits of each unique building.

This video will get you up to speed on some of the units you can bring to the battlefield as well as what’s important in a match: from builder units to resource acquisition to gameplay tips, Shack has you covered!

FIRST LOOK - ELDAR WRAITHKNIGHT

At the end of the mission, the Eldar unleash their biggest weapon yet - the powerful Wraithknight! Luetin offers the first glimpses of the towering behemoth from his own playthrough when he visited the studio. Kellie, who’s on the ground at Gamescom, streamed the exclusive Dawn of War mission yesterday! Throughout the week, she’ll be hosting various streamers as they confront the Eldar forces on Acheron. Keep an eye on our social media channels for the schedule!

FINAL MISSION BRIEFING

This is just the start of bringing Dawn of War III to many different places, into the hands of our wonderful and diverse community.

A few final tips from the Relic team:

Defend your base: The Eldar forces on Acheron don’t sit by idly while you advance on their position. Be sure to keep some squads by your main base to defend.
Destroy the Webway Gates: After taking out immediate threats, try to destroy the Eldar Webway Gates. Reinforcements can come at any time, even in the middle of a fight!
Fortify capture points: As you progress, you’ll also see these points you can capture around the map. Once you do, you upgrade the point with power and requisition add-ons. These will bring additional resources to build more units. Your servitor can also build a Listening Post on the point, which will defend the point with its bolter turret.
Consider building a forward base: You can build your base anywhere there’s open ground. Building forward bases cuts down on time spent crossing treacherous terrain.
Upgrade your Stronghold: When resources allow, don’t forget to upgrade your Stronghold. This will give you more unit and building options, as well as your global Orbital Bombardment ability.
Keep Solaria safe: Solaria is a huge help in a massive fight, but she’s also very vulnerable to melee assaults. There happen to be plenty of Wraithblades in the area, so you’ll need to think about how to keep Solaria out of harm’s way.
Death from above: Don’t forget to use your Orbital Bombardment and drop pods to turn the fight in your favor, scatter enemy squads, or block off escape routes!
